# 148 July 2015 Paetkau News & Notes

It‘s camp ministry season again.  We are thankful for the opportunities that God has given to us this summer to be involved in camp ministries as a family – albeit a bit scattered around

Lanae is serving her second summer at Brightwood Ranch Camp located west of Edmonton, AB.  She is serving as one of the wranglers this year and enjoying it immensely.

Daniel had the opportunity to serve for one week there also as part of the support team – serving in the dishpit and the washroom crew.

A few weeks later we found out that SABC (where Alicia is serving) in southern Alberta was shorthanded for a week in their kitchen/dishpit crew.  So Daniel got to use his new found skills for another week.

A note from Alicia

Hi Everyone

This will be my fourth week working at SABC (Southern Alberta Bible Camp www.sabc.ca).  Originally my plan was to work till the end of this past week in July.  However, the time I have spent here has flown by and has exceeded my expectations.  I have come to not only love my job, but love the people I work with.
Therefore I have decided to continue in the kitchen until August 20th.  These past few weeks have been beyond busy: 12 hour work days, three meals plus desserts and snacks.  I have learned so much more beyond kitchen duties.  Every morning the kitchen staff gather together to do devotions, to encourage and challenge each other with God’s Word.  I have learned daily about needing to surrender everything to the Lord – a few times there have been events where He has used circumstances to show me my heart and what needs to change.  I am so thankful for the time I get to spend with these people because I can see Christ at work in their lives as well as in my own.  In the process of these past three weeks I have seen God change me more than in the past six months.  I also see how this experience is preparing me for college, and I couldn’t be more thankful.
Thank you so much for your support and prayers!  Funds have begun to come in and I am overwhelmed by this blessing.  Please continue to pray for me as I work these next four weeks at the camp, and if you were thinking of giving, please do so soon as the funds need to be received by mid August (here is the link for information www.sabc.ca/donate/staff-support)

Take care,
Alicia

John has been doing a bit of traveling in July.  He spoke at the Lac La Biche EFC family camp one weekend, and then traveled south to join Alicia at Southern Alberta Bible Camp.  He was the speaker there for the week at the Jr High Camp.  There are approx 150 teens there, so along with the bible messages & teaching he thought he should help them in their language acquisition.  Each day he taught them a new word in Russian or Ukrainian, and then encouraged them to try it out on Alicia.

Leanne has been serving us all with keeping everyone fed and cleaned up on our way back and forth, along with having guests various weekends.  Ian & Alison McEwan (friends from Australia) dropped in on their cross country driving tour for a visit.  We had the opportunity to share the Calgary Stampede chuckwagon races with them – quite the experience for us all.

Hope that your summer is also going well.  Pray that God would use you in the places and opportunities that are yours this summer.

John, Leanne, Lanae, Alicia & Daniel
