Summer is just around the corner - in a few weeks summer ministries begin! Here is a brief overview of what is planned for this summer within the Sumy region and beyond....
Lord willing, over 700 children/teens will be impacted through these ministries. What a challenge! What an opportunity!
In the beginning of June Sumy Church of Grace will be holding 5-day tent camps in the neighbourhoods surrounding the church. 10-12 of these afternoon/evening camps are planned to be held over a two week period (5-6 camps per week). 110,000+ people live within a 20 minute walking radius of the church and this will be the third year that these camps are being held. These camps are a tremendous bridge into the community, and each year 300+ children attend, along with many adults who stand nearby and listen, watch and interact with members of Grace Church.
Mid June an outreach event will be held on the SGC property , beginning with the anniversary celebrations for SGC and then carrying on during the week with daily events for families taking place.
The resident camps begin on June 27 @ Grace Camp. The kids camp will run from June 27-July 6, and the Jr High camp will run from July 7-July 16. Approximately 250 campers and their families will be impacted through these camps. Half of the campers are from non-church homes, and through this ministry bridges are built into the families for further ministry. The camp also sponsors children from low income families and orphanages in order that they might come to camp. For many, this is the first time hearing the Gospel, and learning what the Bible teaches.
July 17 - 23 there will be a camp for special needs individuals and their caregivers at Grace Camp. There will also be a ministry team heading north to the city of Pytivol to assist a local church as they run a "tent camp" on the church property. 80 jr highers will be at this camp, and as the church is located near the river it has space for activities, swimming etc.
Grace camp will continue to be busy through the rest of July and August with conferences and camps (see side bar for details)
Late July and August ministry teams from Grace Church will be assisting smaller churches around the region and also a church across the border in Russia. These churches will be holding day camps in their towns and cities, reaching out to the children and families who live there with the Gospel.
A few items for prayer and praise:
Pray that God would prepare the hearts of those who will be attending to hear the message of the Gospel
Pray that God would give strength, wisdom, and direction to all who are part of the leadership and planning of the ministries
Pray for the different documentation that needs to be prepared and received by various offices, that approval will be given as necessary.
Praise the Lord that these ministries are possible. It wasn't that long ago when all doors were closed, and it was impossible to minister openly.
Praise the Lord for the hearts that will be touched through these ministries.
Praise the Lord for those who willingly give of their time and energy to serve in these impactful ministries.
Pray that sufficient finances will be raised for these ministries. Individuals and churches in Ukraine and the West give each year in order that these ministries can take place. We look forward and plan in faith. We have seen how God has provided that which is needed each year, and therefore move forward in faith that He will provide for the coming summer ministries also.
These are challenging times. The opportunities are always greater than our abilities, and each year as plans are made, they are made with the understanding that they can only be accomplished if God works above and beyond that which we can ask or think.

$ 100 will send a kid to camp for 10 days. $ 500 will cover the expenses for one of the 5-day vbs camps. Ask God if and how He would have you or someone you know involved.
