Winter 2011 Edition
Posted December 5, 2011
We're back in Canada! …..and its kinda different...
A few observations from the family….
Home service is....
- a lot of travelling
- Feeling a sense of "kind of being settled" but not being settled
- Wondering which planet you came from
- Wondering which planet you landed in
- Travelling can be a bit monotonous: no major potholes, cows, bicycles, villages and various other challenges to make the trip interesting
- Everyone seems to drive slow here. Ah ha, that's why! Photo radar really works!
We've been travelling….
It has been tremendous reconnecting these past few months.
Boston & Maine: John & Leanne spent a ministry week on the east coast. We met with churches, a number of people who had been on short term teams over the past 10 years, and retired missionaries. It was a great trip, and a side benefit was the beautiful scenery and the great seafood!

On the home front….
Have you ever been in a familiar place but it's all new?
- School-wise, Lanae is completing grade 12 online and Alicia & Daniel are attending the local Christian school.
- John is teaching Bible two afternoons a week at the Christian school.
- The kids are enjoying a variety of new experiences like learning how to shoot a .22, chasing cows on horseback, and running around the hoodoos in southern Alberta.

Someone asked, "how are your holidays?"
The answer to that is home service isn't a holiday, just a change in ministry focus.
For example, a farmer has seasons of planting and harvest, and time of maintenance, repairs and catch up in between. Each season is essential for the success of the operation.
Home service is like that, an essential season with a different focus. It is a very busy time, and challenging in its own way. But it definitely isn't a holiday. Ask the kids - they'll tell you what a holiday is, and trying to live in a new culture for them definitely isn't it. We are very thankful for this time to step back, reconnect, and to receive additional training.
Alberta & Saskatchewan:
Church meetings, conferences and times with individuals have been very rewarding. In four years much has changed and yet stayed the same. We praise the Lord for the opportunities that we have to see so many of you during our time in Canada.
Thank you!
- for praying for us
- for your financial
support
We have been in overseas ministries for 14 years. We have had a solid team of prayer partners and financial supporters the entire time. Praise the Lord!

Home Service Finance Update
We are so thankful, to God and to our financial ministry partners. We have been consistently supported over the years of overseas ministry, and it isn't something that we take for granted.
Each home service, our financial needs are re-calculated for the upcoming term. The offices take into account a number of factors, and set an amount which needs to be faith-promised for the coming term.
We have two areas which are needing funds.
Monthly Pledged Support
We need to raise $ 620.00 new support prior to our departure for Ukraine in July, 2012.
For example: 21 supporters @ $1/day ($30/month)
Home Service Expenses
While on home service, our ministry role is reporting to supporters and churches. This entails a lot of travel etc, as we have supporters & churches from Ontario to BC, and in the US. Please consider a donation (download form) towards our home service expense account
Below is a breakdown of our expenses
Budgeted Amount $ 16,000
Amount Rcvd $ 4,466
Happy Birthday
